What We Believe

What is the Bible?
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God without any error; the sole authority for life and faith.
(Deut 4:1-2; Ps 19:7-11; 2 Tim 3:15-17; Heb 1:1-2)

Who is God?
We believe there is one God who is the maker, preserver and ruler of all things.
(Deut 6:4; Gen 1:1; Col 1:16-18)

We believe God decrees or permits all things that come to pass, yet not so as to destroy the free will and responsibility of human beings.
(Lam 3:37-39; Eph 1:4; Prov 3:5-6; Mk 1:14-15)

We believe God reveals himself to us in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each with distinct attributes, but of the same essence, or nature.
(Matt 3:16-17; Matt 28:19; John 14:26; Rom 1:4; 1 Pet 1:2)

We believe Jesus is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, was wholly God and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for sin, was buried, arose bodily from the grave, ascended into Heaven, and will one day come again.
(Luke 1:35; Isa 7:14; John 1:1-14; 1 Pet 2:22; 1 Cor 15:3-4; Acts 1:9-12)

We believe God the Holy Spirit convinces unbelievers of their need for salvation, and is the comforter and guide who lives in every believer.
(John 14:26; 16:8-15; Acts 1:8)

What is man?
We believe man is a special creation of God, made in His image, but that through the sin of the first man, Adam, mankind fell, so that all men are sinners and in need of salvation.
(Gen 1:26-30; Rom 5:12-21; Rom 3:23; Rom 1:16)

What is salvation?
We believe salvation is a gift, inseparable from repentance toward God and faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Rom 6:23; Mark 1:14-15; Romans 10:9-10, 13)

We believe those who are saved are set apart to God's purposes and enabled to progress toward moral and spiritual maturity through the presence and power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, growing continually in grace throughout life.
(Matt 5-7; Eph 1:17-23; 2:10; 4:11-16)

We believe every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.
(John 6:37; 10:25-29; 17:12; Rom 8:1, 35-39)

We believe those persons who die in their sins without Christ spend eternity in Hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ spend eternity in Heaven.
(John 3:16-21; Rom 6:23; 2 Thes 1:8-9)

What is baptism and the church?
We believe water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and is by immersion after salvation.
(Matt 28:18-20; Rom 6:3-4; Col 2:11-12)

We believe the church is the local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the Head.
(Eph 1:20-23; 3:6; 4:4)

What is prayer?
We believe prayer is direct access and communication to God through the Lord Jesus Christ for every believer.
(Matt 21:13; Mark 11:25; Luke 18:6-8; Eph 6:18)
