Citizenship Class
Free citizenship classes are offered for those interested in preparing for their citizenship interview. Classes are offered from September through May, on Monday mornings from 10:00 - 11:30 am and on Monday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.
To become a U. S. citizen, one must be able to answer 100 questions related to U. S. history, government, civic principles, geography and holidays. One must also be able to read and write English sentences and demonstrate an ability to speak enough English to pass an interview related to questions on the application form. In our classes, we teach and practice all these things until the student is knowledgeable in all the areas and confident enough to pass the interview.
Requirements for class:
- Must be a permanent resident in the U. S. for at least 4 years (or at least 2 years if you meet all eligibility requirements to file as a spouse of a United States citizen)
- Must demonstrate an ability to speak and understand some basic English
- Must be at least 17 years old
- Must have demonstrated good moral character
