OUTREACH

Friendly Avenue Baptist Church’s Outreach Program has two goals:  (1) To bring others to know Jesus Christ as Savior, and (2) to demonstrate the love of Jesus in the community.

In seeking to help others come to know Jesus Christ as Savior, our church distributes tracts giving the plan of salvation during various events (Trunk or Treat for children, neighborhood visits, and Sunday School activities).  Vacation Bible School teaches children how to accept Jesus as Savior.  The plan of salvation is presented during each Living Christmas Tree performance, as well as during church services.  Our Karen Church (for Karen refugees) is responsible for having many of our refugees to accept Christ.  Men in the church have an active Jail Ministry and teach/present the plan of salvation on a regular basis.   Support of missions outreach is provided through the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention, Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Piedmont Baptist Association, International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, and the Women’s Missionary Union.  A “Beyond Our Walls” effort benefits individual missionaries, who are winning the lost.  Young people and adults go on mission trips to spread the Gospel.

The love of Jesus is demonstrated in the community through activities such as tutoring classes, English as Second Language classes, support of Karen refugees, the Cooler Ministry, the Doris Henderson Newcomers School Backpack Program for needy children, Mission to Serve Greensboro, Meals on Wheels,  Stitch’N Time, programs for nursing homes, Shut-In Ministry, Piedmont International Fellowship, Habitat for Humanity, Disaster Relief, Greensboro Urban Ministries (food, blankets, financial support), shower and financial support for Greensboro Pregnancy Center, as well as by financial support for Greensboro Youth for Christ, Piedmont Teen Challenge, and Shepherd’s Center.  WMU circles also adopt needy groups.  Hundreds of shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child are sent to Samaritan’s Purse for distribution to other countries.
