CHOIRS

The choirs at Friendly Avenue minister to all ages and stages and carry on a long tradition of vocal excellence for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. Below are descriptions of the various choirs.

WORSHIP CHOIR

Ages 18 and up - no audition necessary

Friendly Avenue’s Worship Choir provides powerful and inspirational praise leadership Sundays at 10:45 a.m. The choir, along with the Worship Orchestra, presents various special music presentations throughout the year including Easter, July 4th, and the annual Christmas Pageant known as The Living Christmas Tree. Rehearsals are Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. Childcare is provided.

KEENAGE CHOIR

Ages 55 and up - no audition necessary

Also know as the Senior Adult Choir, the Keenage Choir is a Christ-centered community ministry.  They have quarterly opportunities to lead in worship during the 8:15 & 10:45 a.m. services, make special day trips, and join the Piedmont Baptist Association’s “Mass Choir” for special events and festivals.  Rehearsals are Tuesdays mornings at 10:30 a.m. except for the first Tuesdays of each month.

STUDENT CHOIR

Grades 6-12 - no audition necessary

Our Student Choir seeks to glorify Jesus Christ by developing young voices to sing His praises.  With a mixture of both choral and contemporary pieces there is something to be enjoyed by everyone.  They periodically have opportunities to lead in worship Sunday mornings, present worship concerts with the youth praise band, and participate in city music festivals.  Rehearsals are Sunday afternoons at 5:00 p.m.

KIDS MUSIC AND PRAISE

Children ranging from preschool to 5th grade - no audition necessary

The various Kids’ Music and Praise groups give every child an opportunity to sing and to learn about God.  There are three main groups: the Cherubs (preschool 3’s and 4’s), the Music Makers (Kindergarten - 1st grade) and Young Musicians (2nd - 5th grade).  Rehearsals are Sundays evenings at 6:00 p.m.

CHILDREN OF THE KING ENSEMBLE

Children ranging from 2nd - 5th grade - audition required

The Children of the King Ensemble is made up of members of Friendly Avenue’s Kids’ Music and Praise groups.  They are given many extraopportunities during the year to sing praises to the Lord during worship services, for special presentations in the church life and through community ministry.  Rehearsals are Sundays nights at 7:00 p.m.
